About :

The Prohibition of Sexual Harassment Cell and Internal Complaints Committee (renamed as Shaktishree Empowerment Cell) of Government Women’s College, Balangir has been constituted in accordance with the UGC (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal of Sexual Harassment of Women Employees and Students in Higher Educational Institutions) Regulations, 2015 and the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013.

The committee is committed to ensuring a safe, secure, and dignified environment for all women on campus. It upholds the principle that every individual has the right to work and study in an atmosphere free from gender-based discrimination and harassment.

Objectives :

• To prevent any form of sexual harassment against women students, faculty, or staff within the institution.
• To create and maintain a campus environment that promotes gender equality, dignity, and respect.
• To sensitize students and employees about gender justice and appropriate workplace behaviour.
• To provide a mechanism for the redressal of complaints related to sexual harassment.
• To ensure confidentiality and fair inquiry in all cases handled by the committee.

Functions:

• To receive and address complaints of sexual harassment from students or staff.
• To conduct inquiries into complaints as per prescribed procedures and submit findings to the competent authority.
• To organize seminars, workshops, and awareness programs on gender sensitization and women’s rights.
• To display information on the committee’s structure, contact details, and complaint procedures on the college notice board and website.
• To maintain records of cases and actions taken in a confidential manner.
• To ensure that victims are not subjected to any form of victimization or retaliation.
