About the Department:

So far the stage of department concerned it is very new establishment. The Department started in 2015 for Higher secondary studies. To cater the need of higher education in this discipline the state government subsequently converted it to under graduate studies in the year 2023.

Vision:

To Inculcate fundamental knowledge about the plant sciences among the young minds, that will transform the understanding about the planet earth, providing holistic approach on innovative teaching, entrepreneurship skills for economic growth and research with social ethics that reaches the society with a focus on local floras. It will also educate the role of plants in balancing and protecting the Environment.

Mission:

• Provision of knowledge that bestows academic environment and contribute towards creating socially responsible citizens who have adequate skills in reflective thinking, leadership, team play, scientific temper with lifelong learning affinity.
• Create an exciting environment that facilitates intellectual growth of students; provide students with the time and freedom to experience 'powerful pedagogies' such as research, service-learning and internships; encourage students with scientific approach to learning.
• To foster an environment of excellence by providing a comprehensive set of courses in Botany that enhances the understanding, fundamental and in-depth knowledge and technical competency.
• To train the students with an environment that fosters nature conscious stewardship responsibility and Entrepreneurial skill development, multidisciplinary research competency through interdisciplinary learning.

Research Activities: The department is in the process of getting external projects to carry out basic and applied research.
Future Plans: Establishment of state of art facility with modern equipment’s for research and development in the applied aspects of plant biology. Which ensure proper skill development and analytical thinking for self-dependence.
